Buttercup's name started off as a joke. There is no buttercup. There never was a buttercup, but as fairies go, she is not filled with sweetness and light. She's not going to grant you wishes, but if you back out of her sight very slowly you just might get away unharmed.
I think of her as kind of an Earth Mother Fairy. She's not happy. She's not kidding. She's not fooling around.
I learned a lot on on this quilt. The beads hanging in the sky may have been my first eBay purchases. I learned that while you can sew down wispy pieces of smoke colored transparencies, a hot iron can make them disappear again. I learned that zig zagging on top of people creates an unfortunate "gorilla girl" result, resulting in remaking the body yet again. I learned that you can roll, wad, manipulate green knitted silk hair, and it will never crush.
