I photographed my Catalpa tree and then used the computer to zoom in on a few blossoms. Reverse machine appliqué allows me to create the blossom exactly as I had it drawn, adding fabric or tulle to shade the flower. Thread painting was done to the top of the floral panel.
This was the only quilt where I had to actually add on fabric to the quilted sandwich. Not much. Only about ½ inch all the way around. It's covered under the binding. But it was an experience I hope I am smart enough to avoid in the future.
